What a gorgeous morning! The sun poured in my windows and skylights like the beacon of a lighthouse with the honey glow that only the morning gives to it.
I’m not normally a morning person, but when the sun greets me with its happiness after several long days of rain I feel ready to bounce into today. Even after a night of 6 hours of restless sleep.
The jovial greeting peeking through my curtains this morning reminds me of scripture.
I’m sure I have mentioned before my affinity for the book of Lamentations, and this morning that’s where I turn. The passage is cliche for these moments, but not when you remember the context.
Lamentations 3:22-24
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
The prophet Jeremiah is talking about the destruction of the people of God because of their sin in the rest of the book. Lamenting what has come upon them. And this is a break, smack in the middle, to point them back to hope!
When I see the bright display of renewal like this morning I have to lift my heart to the Lord and sing “Great is Your Faithfulness!” The whole song!

A beautiful passage from Scripture! Personally, my favourite book is Hebrews; I am always blown away by the emphasis on the deity of Christ, and I take away something new from it every time.
